Province 2, 7 win on second day

KATHMANDU, April 28: A half-century from Binod Chhetri helped Province 7 defeat Province 5 by 71 runs in the ongoing first Manmohan Memorial Inter-province U-16 Cricket Tournament, on Friday. 

Earlier, Province 7 won the toss and elected to bat first, giving a target of 169 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the allotted 30 overs. In reply, Province 5 failed to chase the target and was limited to 98 runs for the loss of all its wickets in 23.4 overs. 

Chhetri scored the highest 52 runs off 37 deliveries which included three fours and three sixes for Province 7.  Nabin Bhattarai and Rahul Kumar Luniya claimed two wickets each for the losing side. 
The opener Kushal Malla scored the highest 32 runs off 23 balls including a six and five boundaries for Province 5.  Narayan Joshi and Narendra Sawas took three wickets each for the winning team. 
In the first match played on the same day, Province 2 beat Province 4 by seven wickets. 
Province 4 won the toss and opted to bat first and presented a target of 101 runs for the loss of all its wickets in 28.3 overs. In reply, Province 2 chased the target in 13.5 overs for the loss of three wickets. 

Anit Baral hit 29 runs off 75 balls including two fours for the losing side. 

Province 2’s Nikhil Singh was the pick of the bowlers as he pocketed four wickets. 

The opener Imran Sheikh hit the highest 33 runs of 29 balls for the winning team, comprising of a six and five fours.  Kiran Poudel, Sujan Gautam and Prem Gurung picked up a wicket each for Province 5.
