Province 1 to prioritize health and employment in its annual budget for FY 2021/22

KATHMANDU, June 9: Province 1 government has given priority to health and employment in the annual budget for the fiscal year 2021/22. 

In the meeting of the provincial assembly on Tuesday, Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning of Province 1, Tanka Angbuhang Limbu, presented the principles and priorities of the Appropriation Bill 2078 BS and informed that the budget has given priority to health and employment generation programs.

Minister Limbu said that the budget has been divided into health, education, social development, infrastructure, agriculture, industry, tourism, forest and environment. He informed that vaccination against COVID-19 would be provided to all the citizens living in the province by giving priority to the health sector in the budget of the Fiscal Year 2021/22. 

Minister Limbu said that the Chief Minister's Employment Program would be implemented effectively by encouraging the front line employees including health, sanitation and security, emphasizing life-sustaining technical and vocational and employment-oriented education to solve the unemployment problem.

The budget will focus on programs including Senior Citizens’ Village, Chautari and programs that will help alleviate poverty. The budget will give priority to the completion of the schemes that have secured resources, including the Chief Minister's Rural Road Scheme, and the provision of housing for the needy families. The budget has also included a plan to increase the source of income of the government by constructing hydropower projects in collaboration with the local governments with the slogan of ‘investment of the people in the water of the province’.
