SURKHET, Dec 27: After assuming office as the third chief minister of Karnali Province, Chief Minister Raj Kumar Sharma announced to provide employment to 10,000 Karnali youths every year. It will be one year on January 12, 2024 since Sharma took over the command of Karnali. However, the announcement made by Sharma has not been implemented so far.
A cabinet meeting held on January 18 decided to form a task force to implement the decision to provide employment to 10,000 youth annually. The task force was given the responsibility of identifying areas of comparative advantage for job creation in Karnali Province within 30 days, and collection of basic information on the status of employment.

In its policy, program and budget, the provincial government led by Sharma mentioned that it would employ 10,000 youths annually. Provincial government Spokesman and Minister for Internal Affairs and Law Krishna Bahadur Jisi said that work is underway to create a law to provide employment to 10,000 youths annually.
"Right now, the law is in the drafting stage, we will pass it by the Council of Ministers and submit it to the next session of Parliament," he said.
The government spokesperson said that it is too early to make an assessment about the state government. "Even though it's been almost a year since the formation of the government, it has been six months since we brought the budget," he said, "It's too early to evaluate the government right now."
"Our first goal is to implement the development budget, along with providing employment to 10,000 people annually," he said.
