SURUNGA, May 14: Prohibitory order has been extended in Jhapa for an additional week.

A meeting of the District-level COVID-19 Crisis Management Center (DCCMC) held at the District Administration Office, Jhapa on Thursday decided to extend the restriction till May 20 midnight.

The prohibitory order was initially enforced in Jhapa from May 1. The two-week long prohibitory order is expiring at midnight today.

Chief District Officer of Jhapa Shrawan Kumar Timilsina said the decision to extend prohibitory order up to May 20 was taken in view of the rise in the number of COVID-19 cases and the deaths linked to the infection of this virus.

The Thursday meeting also decided to completely close down groceries and business apart from medicines, health materials and fuel and provide home delivery of green vegetables, fruits, milk and milk products within 8.00 am in coordination with local level and local chamber of commerce and industry.

The meeting has decided to request people not to come out of their home except for the purchase of medicine and treatment. The meeting also decided to close all government offices, public enterprises and insurance offices except for the ones that are providing most essential services.
