BHADRAPUR, Sept 15: A prisoner convicted of rape has escaped while receiving treatment at a hospital. The escapee, Jiban Sah, 24, fled from the toilet of Om Sai Pathibhara Hospital early this morning.


Sah, a resident of Bhadrapur Municipality-5, had been referred to the hospital for treatment following chest problems. He was taken to the hospital's toilet around 3:40 AM, where he managed to escape. Authorities, led by Superintendent of Police Milan KC, are currently searching for him.

Earlier, a detainee of the Birtamode Area Police Office escaped by breaking the handcuffs. He was caught from Birtamode Bus Park on August 24, four days after absconding.  It is said that such incidents have started happening one after another in Jhapa, taking advantage of lax security management.
