MORANG, Nov 20: An inmate serving his sentence at the Morang Prison died on Saturday morning. The deceased has been identified as Gopal Sharma, 63, of Biratnagar Metropolitan City-7.

Sharma was convicted of raping a teenager from the family and was serving a life term. Sharma was sentenced to eight years and six months imprisonment by the Morang District Court on November 28, 2014.

Jailer Ram Prasad Pokhrel said that Sharma was admitted to Koshi Hospital for treatment after he was diagnosed with low blood pressure on Friday night.

According to Pokhrel, the hospital discharged him at around 6AM on Saturday after his health improved. However, soon his health deteriorated and he was taken to Koshi Hospital, where the doctor declared him dead at around 8 in the morning.

Jailer Pokhrel said that preparations have been made to hand the body over to the family members and the family has agreed to take the body away.
