It is said Regmi during the meeting elaborated to the state head on the Constitutional Council (CC)’s decision to recommend former chief secretary Lok Man Singh Karki as head of Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA). [break]
There have been voices of protest coming from various sectors including civil society and various students organizations against the decision to appoint Karki, who drew controversy particularly for his alleged role in trying to suppress the 2006 people´s movement, as chief commissioner of the national anti-graft body.
President Yadav, purportedly indicating his displeasure with the CC decision, is said to have responded to Regmi maintaining that appointments at the constitutional bodies be as per constitutional parameters. On the occasion, the two also discussed the government’s preparation for elections and issues regarding electoral laws for early Constituent Assembly elections.
