KATHMANDU, Nov 21: President Ram Chandra Paudel has conferred the title of Honorary General of the Nepali Army on Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) of the Indian Army.
President Paudel presented the insignia to General Dwivedi during a ceremony held at the President’s Office, Sheetal Niwas, on Thursday.

This honor follows the tradition established in 1950 of conferring the title of honorary army chief to each other's army chiefs between Nepal and India.
General Dwivedi arrived in Kathmandu on Tuesday for a five-day official visit. Before the ceremony, he held a formal meeting with Nepal's Chief of Army Staff, Ashok Raj Sigdel.
Dwivedi, who assumed the position of army chief on June 30, is on his first foreign visit. During his stay in Nepal, he is also scheduled to visit various religious and tourist sites.
