KATHMANDU, Aug 12: The government has felicitated the youth and organizations making notable contribution nation building with the National Youth Award.
President Bidya Devi Bhandari and Sports Minister Daljit Shripaili felicitated them on the occasion of International Youth Day amid a function here in the capital on Friday.
The program was organized by the National Youth Council. The felicitated personalities are comedian Sitaram Kattel and Kunjana Ghimire (Dhurmus- Suntali Foundation) for social service, Paincho Pasal of Gulmi for commercial agriculture, Dr Raju Adhikari for environment and sanitation, Amir Lama for painting, Shiva Pariyar for art and music, Lochan Basnet for agriculture and Phul Maya Tamang of Maiti Nepal for controlling women trafficking.
Similarly, Deepak Timilsina was honoured for livestock rearing, Min Bahadur Bham for art and culture and Dr Suman Satyal for scientific research.
Likewise, 10 players were felicitated for their contribution in the respective sectors. They are wushu player Nima Gharti Magar, judo player Phupulhyamu Khatri, football player Navayug Shrestha, para-sports player Kumar Poudel, cricket player Sandeep Lamichhane, athlete Bipana Pariyar, swimmer Gaurika Singh, kho-kho trainer Ram Narayan Ray, taekwondo player Nisha Rawal. Nepal Triathlon Association was also awarded on the occasion.
Each felicitated individual and institution received Rs 100,000. While presenting the award, President Bhandari urged for mobilizing the youth for national development.
She stressed on implementing the Youth Policy and Youth Vision-2025 within a year along with creating employment opportunities inside the country. She further opined for stopping the youth capital flight.
Similarly, Sports Minister Shripaili expressed the commitment to implement the Youth Vision-25 and other policy and programmes regarding the youth. He added that the government would investment more in different sectors targeting to the youth.
On the occasion, NYC vice-chair Madhav Dhungel shared that they were working out to generate employment for four million youth in the country. RSS
