KATHMANDU, JAN 26: President Bidya Devi Bhandari reached Nasal Chowk at Hanuman Dhoka Palace on Thursday and performed Basant Shravan.
It is a tradition for the President to visit the place on the occasion of Saraswati Puja and listen to the spring. This practice has been given continuity since the time of King Pratap Malla.
According to the same tradition, President Bhandari, who reached Nasalchowk, was welcomed by a contingent of Nepali Army and was saluted by Panchebaza.
Gai Puja, Goru Puja and Govardhan Puja today
On that occasion, President Bhandari also received flower garlands, tika and prasad from the priest. President Bhandari has also worshiped Goddess Saraswati on the occasion of Basant Shravan.
President Bhandari along with Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Acting Chief Justice Harikrishna Karki, Speaker Devraj Ghimire and Speaker of the National Assembly Ganesh Prasad Timilsana were present at the spring hearing ceremony.
Goddess Saraswati is worshiped all over the country on the day of Basant Panchami. There is a scriptural statement that even if you listen to Vasant Shravan on the day of Vasant Panchami, you will get happiness, peace and prosperity.
It is believed that the spring season starts from the day of Vasant Panchami, and it is believed that the nature of the world takes a new form from this day itself.
