KATHMANDU, Jan 23: A pressure cooker bomb planted by the outlawed CPN (Maoist) led by Netra Bikram Chand "Biplab' in Banepa Bazar in Kavrepalanchwok district has been defused on Saturday.
According to police, a bomb disposal team of the Nepal Army defused the bomb planted on the highway in the Budol area of Araniko Highway. Police had stopped the movement of all vehicles since 3 am to search bombs planted by the outlawed group after receiving a tip-off that the group had planted bombs in several locations to make the nationwide general strike they called for Saturday a success.
Police said vehicular movement along Araniko Highway has already resumed. The Biplab-led group called the general strike what it said against the arrest of its central secretariat member Kanchan a few weeks ago. The group had detonated a bomb in the Bethankchowk area in Kavrepalanchowk on Friday evening.
