KATHMANDU, August 14: Nepali Congress (NC) senior leader Ram Chandra Paudel has said that the Citizenship Bill should be approved by the President. Speaking at a press conference organized by Press Union Chitwan at the Bharatpur Airport, senior leader Paudel insisted that the President cannot stop the Citizenship Bill.
“I have not been able to understand why the President seems confused?” he asked, “The bill passed and sent by parliament should be accepted without hesitation.” Insisting that the bill is righteous, Paudel challenged that if it is to be returned, she should be able to justify it.
Regarding the conflict in the party, senior leader Paudel said that no one should dominate anyone. “The party members should not take sides within the party. Otherwise, distance will increase among the party members which is not good.”
He said that the NC will continue to campaign to win in the upcoming federal and provincial assembly elections by resolving internal disputes. Poudel also said that candidacy should be decided on the basis of propriety in the upcoming elections.
He also mentioned that the five-party alliance has averted a political crisis in the upcoming elections to be held in November. He made it clear that the NC decided to form an alliance according to the need of the hour.
