CHITWAN, Oct 3: Preparations including maintenance of road, installation of parapets, arrangement for security forces for check-ups and escorting of the vehicles and clearance of disturbances along the roadside at Narayangadh-Muglin road section are in full swing to ensure smooth traffic flow in view of the Dashain festival.

As more and more vehicles are bound to ply the road section due to increasing out flux of public during the Festival, the local authorities concerned have been speeding up the maintenance of the road through which more than 9,000 vehicles pass through in a day on average.

According to Engineer Shiva Khanal, the potholes are being filled and the pitch road with potholes across Aapatari Chowk, Jugedi, Gaighat and Muglin are being blacktopped.

Similarly, three tankers have been mobilized to subdue dust in the road section through which the small vehicles are taking an hour and big ones are taking two hours to cross due to the heavy traffic flow during the festival, informed Engineer Khanal.

Likewise, 18 human resources, three loaders, three tippers and three graders have been mobilized to clear the disturbances like the mud mould, defunct vehicles parked alongside the road, rocks among others from the road section which experiences disturbances too often during the monsoon due to landslides and other factors as road accidents, shared Engineer Shiva Khanal.

Although there are 11 places at high risk of landslides that fall along the road section, no occurrences of landslides have been reported in ten of those places in the last forty days, mentioned Khanal.

Moreover, security personnel have been deployed at various places across the road section around the clock to ensure safety to the passengers and to curb any untoward incidents, said Basanta Bahadur Kunwar, Superintendent of Police (SP) at the District Police Office, Chitwan.

The armed security personnel will escort the vehicles to and from Bharatpur-Muglin, added SP Kunwar.

Also, parapets are being installed in various 32 places to minimize road accidents. Installation of traffic signs is also undertaken to ease traffic congestion during the festival. RSS
