DARCHULA, August 9: Security forces have been searching for Jay Singh Dhami, who went missing after falling into the Mahakali River while crossing the river with the help of improvised cable on June 29.

The Armed Police Forces (APF), Nepal Police (NP) and Indian SSB have been continuing their search operation for the missing person along the river area from Byas Rural Municipality-2 to Mahakali Municipality.

An Investigation Committee formed by the government has decided to look for the missing person with the help of drone cameras. The committee, which reached Darchula district on August 3, is still conducting their investigation on the incident.

According to Janardan Gautam, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs and coordinator of the committee, the search for the Dhami is currently underway.

The team visited the site of the incident and met with the family of Jay Singh Dami last Friday. “Our investigation is still underway. The investigation committee is questioning members of the security committee and security personnels as well,” Gautam said. “The government has given us 10 days to submit a report but it is unsure if we will meet the deadline. We will return to Kathmandu after conducting a search with the help of a drone camera.”

According to Acting Chief District Officer Jyotsana Bhatta Joshi, who is also a committee member, talks are underway with the Indian side to fly a drone to stretch the search operation.
