DIPALAYA, Nov 30: A pregnant woman has been rescued by a helicopter from Dipayal. Amrita Devi Bohara, 25, of Badikedar Rural Municipality-5 of the district was airlifted to Surkhet on Wednesday, informed ward member Bhim Bahadur Bohara. She was suffering from heavy bleeding and was rescued on the initiative of various social welfare organisations.
Bohara, who was experiencing labor pain since Monday afternoon, was initially taken to a local community health post in Rantola after she failed to deliver the baby. After bleeding profusely, she was taken to Surkhet Provincial Hospital by the helicopter of the Nepalese Army for further treatment.
Kalpana Shrestha, chief district officer of Doti, said that pregnant and postpartum women from remote areas have been rescued on several occasions by helicopters under the President’s Women Upliftment Program.
