TAPLEJUNG, Oct 14: A pregnant woman has died after a helicopter failed to pick her up due to adverse weather conditions from a remote district today. 

Pema Sherpa, 40, Papung died at 1:00 am when Manang Air Helicopter could not arrive at the site due to inclement weather conditions, Sherpa's uncle, Nurpu Sherpa, said. 

The chopper made two failed attempts to land and could not rescue her on time. The helicopter landed at Kholing and later was stationed at Bhanujan Primary School premises at Phuling after failing to land at the second attempt. It could not even take off in the morning as the weather did not clear. 

The annual death rate of pregnant women due to untimely treatment is continuing unabated in this far flung district. RSS
