Pratik wins National Essay Competition 2017

KATHMANDU, Dec 5: The winners of National Essay Competition 2017 organized by Landmark Education and Macquare University in partnership with Glocal Pvt Ltd were announced amid an event at Hyatt Regency, Bauddha on Monday. 

According to a press statement released by Glocal Pvt Ltd, Pratik Bhandari from The Times International HS School won the first position with a cash prize of Rs 50,000. Ankur Singh Thapa from St Xavier College was announced the first runner up with a cash prize of Rs 30,000 and Rhitu Thapa from DAV College won the title of second runner up with a cash prize of Rs 20,000. 

Likewise, Sweta Dhakal from SOS Hermann Gmeiner, Bharatpur and Ayush Jha from Chelsea International Academy won the fourth and fifth prizes respectively. The topic for the essay competition was ‘Education for Development’ where 120 students studying in Grades XI, XII and A levels across the country submitted their essays. Only five best essays from the total were shortlisted for the final evaluation. 

The jury panel comprised of Director at ILO Nepal Richard Howard, Roshee Bhusal from KUSOM, CEO at Nepal Traveller Terence Lee and MD at Job Dynamics Rajiv Sharma, who selected the top five essays. 

The winners were ranked by Macquarie University. Quoting Sherman Young, VC, Macquarie University, Australia the press statement stated, “We were overwhelmed with the number of participants and the quality of ideas that they have demonstrated in their essays. Each essay reflects the sense of realization among high school students regarding the necessity of educated country for development.”
