KATHMANDU, Oct 26: Main opposition CPN-UML has vehemently stated that the date of elections should not be deferred under any pretext.

Issuing a press statement following the 89th Standing Committee meeting of the party held at the central party office in Dhumbarahi today, UML said, “The parliamentary and provincial elections which have been slated for November 26 and December 6 should not be postponed under any circumstances.”

“UML has been concerned with the Supreme Court’s order regarding the ballot papers to be used for parliamentary and provincial elections.  The postponement of the elections under any pretext will be unacceptable to UML”, reads the statement.

Meanwhile, UML has also drawn the attention of all the stakeholders including the Election Commission to successfully conclude the elections without delay saying that this upcoming election is important to implement the constitution and end the ongoing political transition.
