The three-member team led by Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Prakash Kunwar said so after initial discussions with local administration and police on Tuesday. “We discussed progress of investigations so far with those involved in the investigation,” said Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Navaraj Dhakal who is a member of the team. The team, which also has National Investigation Department Deputy Director Rajendra Khatri as its member, will mobilize the lead and instrument used in the investigation so far in a new way. “We have seen the progress report so far and will start investigation in a new way,” Dhakal revealed.
Chief of Chitwan Police Dhiru Basnet said the local administration acquainted the team with the complex nature of the case. “We will proceed with new vigor in coordination with the team,” Basnet said.
The team, formed by government on Monday, will investigate into the incident at a micro level and will hold discussions with doctors of cancer hospital and other stakeholders on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, hospitals in Chitwan that had halted all medical services since Monday have decided to be benign to patients from Wednesday.
"Doctors will start providing emergency services to the patients at the cancer hospital from Wednesday keeping in view the plight of patients from far-flung areas," said Coordinator of the Save Dr Bhaktaman Shrestha Campaign Bijaya Raj Neupane.
Likewise, Deputy Director of the hospital Dr Laxmi Narayan Singh said the hospital will provide chemotherapy and radiotherapy services for the prior admitted patients for free. He also revealed that the hospital has made free food and boarding arrangements for patients until the protest lasts.
Similarly, Bharatpur Hospital, Medical College Bharatpur and Chitwan Medical College will also resume emergency services from Wednesday. However, other hospitals in the district will continue to halt all services.
Meanwhile, Nepal Medical Association (NMA) has withdrawn its 72-hour ultimatum that was to expire Wednesday and decided not to halt services for now, according to NMA President Dr Kedar Narsingh KC.
