KATHMANDU, July 2: The CPN (Unified Socialist) has sought a written clarification from party leader Ram Kumari Jhankri over her recent remarks about party chair Madhav Kumar Nepal. The party’s Disciplinary Commission issued the notice on Wednesday, giving her a three-day deadline to respond, according to a party source.
“If she fails to respond within the given timeframe or if her explanation is unsatisfactory, she could face expulsion from the party,” the source said.

Jhankri, while addressing a training session of the party’s youth wing in Butwal a few days ago, had raised concerns over former Prime Minister Nepal’s leadership, citing the corruption case filed against him.
“Legally and constitutionally, the party chair now faces a problem. Several leaders from other parties have faced similar issues too,” Jhankri had said. “We can't keep carrying carcasses on our shoulders.” She had also called for an early general convention to change the leadership through democratic means.
Party Chair Nepal has been implicated by the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) in connection with the Patanjali land scam. The Special Court later released him on a bail of Rs 3.5 million.
However, the Unified Socialist concluded that the case against Nepal was politically motivated and decided there was no need for him to step down. Following Jhankri’s remarks, several party leaders expressed anger toward her.
Party spokesperson Prakash Jwala had already issued a statement warning leaders not to make public comments that go against the spirit of the party’s leadership and decisions.
