GORKHA, Nov 7: Police have seized a pistol along with three rounds of bullets from a motorcycle used by proportional representation candidate of CPN (Maoist Center) Sushila Simkhada.
The pistol and the ammunitions were seized from the motorcycle, Ba 7 3 Pa 3383, during a security check at Dhawa in Bhimsen Rural Municipality-3 this afternoon.
Motorcyclist Guna Prasad Khanal was out in the election campaign while PR candidate Simkhada was riding pillion, according to DSP Bhesh Raj Rijal of District Police Office, Gorkha. Khanal fled the scene throwing away the bag with the arm when the police approached for security check.
Police have stepped up security around the area after the pistol was found. Police said they are investigating the case after taking Simkhada under control.
Meanwhile, they have launched a manhunt to nab absconding Khanal.
