Police, RSP supporters clash in Chitwan, 60 injured

More than 20 police officers and over 40 RSP cadres sustained injuries, according to RSP leader Milan Limbu. The injured are receiving treatment at hospitals, including Bharatpur Community Hospital.

KATHMANDU, Dec 4: Chitwan remains tense following clashes between Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) supporters and the police. The unrest erupted when police used force to disperse RSP supporters demonstrating outside the District Police Office.


More than 20 police officers and over 40 RSP cadres sustained injuries, according to RSP leader Milan Limbu. The injured are receiving treatment at hospitals, including Bharatpur Community Hospital.

Police claim the protesters initiated the violence by hurling stones, prompting the use of force. However, RSP cadres allege excessive use of force by the police.


To control the crowd, police baton-charged the protestors, and used water cannons, and tear gas. Despite being initially dispersed, the protesters regrouped near the police office, chanting slogans.


The situation remains volatile as tensions continue in the area.
