KATHMANDU, Jan 24: Police have rescued a man who tried to self-immolate himself in New Baneshwar, Kathmandu, on Tuesday.

KATHMANDU, Jan 24: Police have rescued a man who tried to self-immolate himself in New Baneshwar, Kathmandu, on Tuesday.


According to the police, a man named Prem Acharya set himself on fire at around 3 PM in New Baneshwar.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Dinesh Raj Mainali, spokesperson for the District Police Office, Kathmandu, said that he has been taken to Nepal Cleft & Burn Center in Kirtipur for treatment.


SP Mainali added, “'I have come to know that the police reached the spot and extinguished the fire. He has been taken to Kirtipur for further treatment.”


He said that further investigation into the matter is underway.
