KATHMANDU, Jan 19: Spokesperson for Nepal Police, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Bishnu Kumar KC has claimed that the recent amendment to the police regulation has encouraged and boosted up the confidence of the police personnel of lower ranks.

At a press meet and interaction held at the Police Headquarters on Tuesday, SSP KC said the recent amendment to the police regulation allowing to add three extra posts has further encouraged the police personnel who have been working at the same position for the last 20 years.

“This amendment has opened up avenues for equal opportunity to all police personnel to enhance their careers and has also ended the situation wherein they have to remain in the same position for long”, the spokesperson added.

The creation of the new positions will make a difference in perks and benefits and boost up the confidence of fellow police personnel, he said. By amending the regulation, the police administration has added the posts of assistant head constable, senior head constable and senior police inspector.

The regulation has introduced a new provision to promote police senior personnel to assistant head constable, head constable to senior head constable and Sub Inspector to senior Sub Inspector after serving five years in the same positions.

KC shared that the regulation has been amended to keep five levels in the position of office assistant. With the amendment of the regulation allowing the creation of three new levels, there will be 33 percent promotion in the position of assistant head constable, 25 percent in senior head constable and 33 percent in senior police sub-inspector.

Currently, Nepal Police has 47,053 police senior personnel, 14,989 head constables and 4,296 sub-inspectors.
