KATHMANDU, Jun 8: Police have raided the residence of M K Agrawal – the alleged mastermind of the 33-kg gold smuggling case — at Kalikasthan in the capital on Friday.
Sources said police have seized Rs 3 million cash, 10 tola gold, a vehicle and a jacket used to smuggle gold.
Agrawal has been absconding since the probe committee started arresting senior police officials and others in connection with the gold smuggling case. The house remained padlocked after his spouse also left the country.
Sources said police have also seized some important documents from Agrawal's residence. A probe committee led by Joint Secretary Ishwar Raj Paudel at the Ministry of Home Affairs is currently investigating the 33-kg gold smuggling case and the murder of Sanam Shakya in connection with the case.
