Police prohibit staging sit-in at Singh Durbar

KATHMANDU, May 10: Police debarred the demonstrators, who were gathered in the southern gate of Singha Durbar, to stage sit-in protest and sent them towards the District Administration Office, Kathmandu, on Friday.



Around 30 activists of Human Rights and Peace Society (HURPES) had gathered there at around 11:00 am.[break]



Talking to journalists after the government did not allow the rights activists, Chairman of the Society, Hom Kanta Chaulagain, said the government has forbidden people´s rights for peaceful demonstration.



The rights activists had planned to stage sit-in protest to show disagreement over the appointment of Lokman Singh Karki as the Chief of the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority.
