Police destroy marijuana in Udayapur

UDAYAPUR, Nov 15: District Police Office, Udayapur, said it destroyed around 115,000 marijuana plants in Udayapur district over the past few days.

A team of Nepal Police jointly led by sub-inspector Gopal Rai of District Police Office, Udayapur, and sub-inspector Gunja Bahadur Tamang of Armed Police Force (APF), were involved in yanking and destroying marijuana plants in the region. A total of 11 Nepal Police officers and 26 APF officers were involved in the work.

According to the District Police Office, Udayapur, the team has destroyed marijuana plants in five wards of Tapli Rural Municipality. The team destroyed marijuana plants in Pipal Bhanjyang, Juke, Falate, Madale, Dumre and Sirishe of Tapli Rural Municipality-1.

Likewise, the joint team destroyed cannabis in Odare, Bachang, Tamakharka, and Dhuseni of ward 2 of same rural municipality. Likewise, police destroyed cannabis in Dadagaun and Dhureni of ward 3, and Rakula Khola, Jhyamke, Thumki, and Dhovan of Ward 4.

According to police, they destroyed marijuana plants grown in around 50 ropani [2.54 hectares] of land in the region. “The team was deployed in the region from Nov 7 to Nov 12,” said DSP Hari Krishna KC, spokesperson for the District Police Office, Udayapur.
