KATHMANDU, Sept 12: Police have arrested three people on charges of swindling youths out of Rs 2.38 million by making false promises to send them abroad for employment.


The arrested individuals include Sushant Singh, 30, from Siraha Municipality-7, currently living in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-9, Sinamangal; Sallauddin Beg, 36, from Krishnanagar Municipality-11, Kapilvastu, currently residing in Sinamangal; and Raju Dahal, 53, from Phedap Rural Municipality-8, Terhathum, presently staying in Hattigauda, Budhanilkantha Municipality-8, Kathmandu.

Information Officer SP Kaji Kumar Acharya of the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, Teku, said that Singh conned two people out of Rs 840,000, promising to send them to Dubai. Beg fleeced two individuals of Rs 720,000, claiming he would send them to Kuwait, while Dahal cheated three people out of Rs 825,000 with the false promise of sending them to Croatia.


Police apprehended Singh, Beg, and Dahal from various locations in Kathmandu based on complaints from the victims. Information Officer Acharya stated that the suspects have been sent to the Department of Foreign Employment, Tahachal, for further investigation and action.
