KATHMANDU, March 18: Police have taken Pemba Lama into custody for carrying illegal US dollar with her from the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).

Police have discovered 38,999 US dollar from Lama who was about to leave Nepal to Hong Kong from flight of Nepal Airlines.

DIG Pankaj Shrestha informed that the investigation is still underway the objective of carrying large amount of illegal foreign cash. Police is preparing to hand over Lama to the Revenue Investigation Department on Sunday for further investigation.

Police, however, have doubt that Lama might have carried such a large amount, equivalent to Rs 3.9 million, to buy gold in Hong Kong.  In recent days, Nepal has become the transit point for the trade of illegal foreign currency, gold and other illicit items.
