Pokhara: With 43,215 votes, Unified Socialist candidate Acharya ahead in mayoral race

KATHMANDU, May 22: CPN (Unified Socialist) candidate Dhanraj Acharya has maintained his lead in the mayoral race for Pokhara Metropolitan City. As many as 107,962 votes have been counted so far in the metropolis. 

Acharya is leading the polls by 3,417 votes against his closest rival Krishna Thapa of CPN-UML. So far, Acharya has garnered a total of 43,215 votes while Thapa has received 39,798 votes. 

Similarly, Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP)’s Shankar Pokhrel has received 4,815 votes while independent candidate Ganesh Poudel has received 2,693 votes.

In the race for the post of deputy-mayor CPN-UML candidate Manjudevi  Gurung has increased her lead by 1,659 votes against her closest rival Kopila Ranabhatt of Nepali Congress (NC). Gurung has received 44,950 votes while Ranabhat has received 43,291 votes. Similarly, RPP candidate Ranjana Sen has received 4,815 votes.
