POKHARA, Aug 29: The meeting of Western Region Sports Development Committee headed by the committee’s President Sampanna Shrestha has decided to build the shooting range inside the Pokhara Stadium for the Ninth National Games as a team of technical experts selected the place for the purpose.

Gandaki Province is set to host the ninth edition of the prestigious sports tournament to be organized by National Sports Council (NSC).

The decision was taken in the presence of chief of the office of the regional development committee Laxman Prasad Yogi, Regional Director Bidya Marsani and technical experts.

“The area has been finalized. Now the construction work will be started through a tender process,” said Shrestha after the NSC’s technical team led by Bishwamitra Sanjel inspected the area and finalized it.
The Shooting Range, upon completion, will be fit for hosting 10 meter Pistol and Air Rifle during the national games. The committee has planned to construct a shooting range of 25 square meters. However, it will host only 10 meter target competitions and trainings.

An amount of Rs 5 million has been allocated for the construction. The venue will include a changing room, rest rooms, range office and long-term parapet within the area of 25 square meters.

Infrastructures will be developed within the proposed area whereas 10 square meters will be used for target competition,” said Shrestha.

The former Olympian and current shooting coach Bhagwati KC who helped Gandaki win two shooting gold medals in recently concluded Eight National Games said a different shooting range will be required to practice and train for the 25 meter target.
