Pokhara sees huge influx of tourists

POKHARA, Jan 28: The number of tourists visiting Pokhara, the second largest tourist destination in the country, has increased by 13 percent and reached 186,643 during 2008 as compared to last year.



Bishnu Ghimire, acting chief of Pokhara Tourism Office said at a press conference Wednesday that of the total tourists making holiday in Pokhara during the year, 41,626 are Indians. A total of 41,233 Indians had visited Pokhara in 2007. The number of domestic tourists has also risen to 67,775 in 2008 from 65,000 in the previous year.
