Pokhara plane crash: bodies of 26 crash victims identified

KATHMANDU, Jan 16: The identity of the 26 Yeti Airline plane crash victims has been revealed.


Spokesperson for District Police Office, Kaski, Gyan Bahadur Khadka said that 67 dead bodies have been taken to Pokhara Institute of Health Sciences and 26 of them have been identified so far.

Among those whose identities have been revealed are 37-year-old journalist Tribhuwan Paudel, who lives in Pokhara-13, Guitarist Nishant Acharya, 27 years old from Kahundanda, Pokhara-17, Makeup artist Sangita Shahi from Pokhara-4, who lived in Balaju, Kathmandu, Dr Sushil Shrestha and his wife Dr Sona Diwakar.


Similarly, 10-year-old Rian Paudel of Parbat Kushma-1, Sadakat Ali Miya of Pokhara-13 Miyapatan, Lakshmi Paudel of Pokhara-7, 46-year-old Arun Paudel of Parbat Kushma-9, Katuwachoupari, his 11-year-old daughter Pradati, 39-year-old Bijay Kumar Gurung of Parbat Modi-1, Rakhi  Kafle Poudel of the same place and Rocky Gurung of Pokhara-22, have been identified.


Police said that bodies of Dr Ganesh Thapa of Rupandehi Shankarnagar-8, Natu Pariyar of Kathmandu, Rita Pariyar, Hari Pariyar, Esmin Gurung of Pokhara-8, Pujan Rana of Buddha Chowk, Pokhara, air hostess Srijana Huchung of Butwal, Mohan Prakash Shrestha, 35, of Kawasoti-6, Jeevan Kala Gurung of Chorepatan, Pokhara, Korean citizen Yu Kyughul, Russian citizens Juriz Legin and Allen have been identified.


According to Khadka, the relatives of the departed souls have been called to receive the identified bodies.
