Water sports have been a major tourist attraction for a long time in Nepal. Majority of tourists visit Pokhara, the major water sports destination in Nepal to enjoy their time in water-related sports. With an increase in tourists’ attention to sports, the local authorities are keen on the development of water sports. As a result, two lakes of Pokhara: Fewa Lake and Begnas Lake are being proposed as the venue for the same. In addition, few companies have been showing their interest in investing in water sports.

 “The companies interested in the investment were asked to submit their documentation by June 4. The companies didn’t submit the documents until July 19 so the further procedure has just begun. Though groups have been formed for the planning of smooth running of the water sports activities in these areas,” said Ananta Raj Koirala, an employee of Pokhara Municipality.

Pokhara is almost every tourist’s go-to place, as being the lake city, the lakes here have always been its major attraction. Pokhara is surrounded by natural beauty having many lakes, snowcapped mountains and more; making it a perfect destination for relaxation and vacation for the tourists.

Moreover, the local authorities are planning to make it a destination for water sports. And they have been preparing to hold games like water polo as well where they expect these additional facilities in Pokhara will keep the tourists for a longer and convenient stay.
