Pokhara Airport prepares for inaugural international flight

POKHARA, June 16: Pokhara Airport is gearing up for its first-ever international flight. A Chinese airline company obtained permission to operate a charter flight to the airport on June 16.


The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) confirmed that Sichuan Airlines will be the first international carrier to fly to Pokhara. The flight is scheduled to depart from Chengdu Airport in China.

CAAN is currently engaged in discussions with Sichuan Airlines to start regular flight operations to and from Pokhara.


Notably, the chartered aircraft of Sichuan Airlines will transport athletes who will participate in the upcoming Boat Race in Pokhara.


Since its inauguration on January 1, 2023, Pokhara Regional International Airport has primarily catered to domestic flights, but this development marks a significant milestone in its journey towards international connectivity.
