KATHMANDU, Jan 4: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Speaker Onsari Gharti Magar on Wednesday discussed the ongoing obstruction in parliament.

During a meeting at the Prime Minister’s official residence at Baluwatar, the Speaker requested PM Dahal to create an environment to resume parliament meeting.

The main opposition party, CPN-UML, has been obstructing the House meeting since November 29, demanding with the government to withdraw the constitution amendment bill.

Press Advisor to the Speaker, Babin Sharma said that the Speaker told the Prime Minister that she was ready to conduct the House meeting despite the obstruction if parties fail to reach an understanding.

PM Dahal tried to assure the Speaker that an accord will be reached soon.

“I am working to forge a consensus on ending the deadlock in the House. I am optimistic that an accord will be reached before the parliament meeting slated for Sunday,” Sharma quoted the PM as saying.
