KATHMANDU, Sept 19:Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal's visit to the United States of America scheduled from today has been cancelled in the eleventh hour.
The PM was scheduled to depart for the US today to attend the ongoing 71st United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
Speaker's Switzerland visit cancelled
The PM's trip to the US was cancelled in the last hour bearing in mind that it was time for laying focus on addressing the voices of agitating Madhesi, Tharu and ethnic communities rather than setting out for a foreign trip, the PM's Private Secretariat said.
There are people voices that the PM should currently focus himself on the enforcement of the constitution and acceleration of the post-earthquake rebuilding drive and the visit was canceled for the same cause, the Secretariat said in a press statement today.
Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat had already left for the US to take part in the UNGA. He, who had been in the PM's recent India visit entourage, straightly flew to the US from New Delhi Sunday. RSS
