KATHMANDU, Aug 7: Nepali leaders have expressed condolences on the demise of Indian Former External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj.


In a tweet on Wednesday morning, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli said that he is deeply shocked to learn of the passing away of  Swaraj.



Deeply shocked to learn of the passing away of Smt. Sushma Swaraj, a senior political leader of India and former External Affairs Minister. Heartfelt condolences and deepest sympathies to the Government and people of India as well as to the bereaved family members.

While expressing his heartfelt condolences and deepest sympathies to the Government and people of India as well as to the bereaved family members, the prime minister recalled how intimately Swaraj used to call him brother and share feelings of affinity.



Foreign Minister Pradeep Kumar Gyawali has expressed condolence on the demise of Swaraj.



Saddened by untimely passing away of former EAM of India Sushma Swaraj ji.Deep condolences to the family, Government and people of India on the loss of a leader with commitment,vision and spirituality. Had worked closely with her to strengthen bilateral ties when she held office.

In a tweet Gyawali said he is saddened by the untimely passing away of Swaraj. He has expressed deep condolences to the family, Government and people of India on the loss of a leader with commitment, vision and spirituality.  Gyawali said he had worked closely with Swaraj to strengthen bilateral ties when she held office.


President of Nepali Congress, Sher Bahadur Deuba also expressed condolences on the demise of Swaraj. In a tweet on Wednesday morning, Deuba said he is deeply saddened to know the untimely passing away of Swaraj, a true friend of Nepal and a senior politician and former External Affairs Minister. 


Deuba expressed his heartfelt condolences and deepest sympathies to the bereaved family members and people of India.

Likewise, Former Foreign Minister Kamal Thapa, who is also the president of Rastriya Prajatantra Party, expressed condolence on the demise of Swaraj.

Swaraj, 67, passed away last night. The senior BJP leader was rushed to AIIMS in New Delhi at 10:15 pm and was straight away taken to the emergency ward. She had a kidney transplant in 2016 and had opted out of contesting Lok Sabha polls earlier this year for health reasons, Press Trust of India reported.
