KATHMANDU, Dec 11: CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had not achieved anything significant during his recent visit to China.

Addressing the party's function in Chitwan, Chairman Dahal, who is also the main opposition leader in the federal parliament, said that Prime Minister Oli was promoting agreements with China by replicating initiatives established during Dahal's tenure as prime minister. He also highlighted that he maintained balanced relations with both India and China during his own term as prime minister.

Speaking about his achievements, Dahal stated, "The significant agreements made during my visit to China addressed critical issues such as reopening traditional border checkpoints that had remained closed, causing severe difficulties for the people in the northern border areas and impacting the country's entire economy. As per the agreements reached during my visit, all these checkpoints have now been reopened. It is now up to us to pave the way forward.”

Among other things, the two governments had reached the agreements to build Kimathanka-Khandbari Road and Kimathanka Bridge and Integrated Check Post Project and Hilsa-Simikot Road Project to facilitate cross-border trade and movement of people.

Chairman Dahal further expressed mixed emotions about Prime Minister Oli, saying he felt both pride and pity. "The balanced relations with both neighbors and the agreements made for Nepal's greater good were visionary. I feel happy now, but also a little pity when I see our current Prime Minister. He is simply replicating everything I achieved last year,” he said.

“All those agreements and understandings were my initiatives. I haven't seen KP Oli introduce anything new. However, I am proud that he has acknowledged my efforts, and for that, I thank him," Dahal said.  He also recalled that he had announced a commitment to resolving border issues during his visit to India.
