KATHMANDU, Dec 25: Prime Minister KP Sharma has called a Cabinet meeting at 6 PM on Friday.
PM Oli is likely to reshuffle the Cabinet following the resignation of seven ministers earlier on Sunday, according to a source familiar with the Prime Minister’s Office. Minister for Foreign Affairs, Pradeep Gywali, on Thursday also hinted that the foremost task of the government is to expand the Council of Ministers.
Hours after the House of Representatives was dissolved by President Bidya Devi Bhandai at the recommendation of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Sunday, seven ministers close to the NCP faction led by the party’s Executive Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal stepped down from their posts as a protest to the ‘unconstitutional’ move. The ministers who resigned are Ghanashyam Bhusal, Giriraj Mani Pokharel, Yogesh Bhattarai, Barshaman Pun, Shakti Basnet, Rameshwar Ray Yadav and Bina Magar.
The Oli-led Cabinet now has 18 members including ministers and ministers of state.
