KATHMANDU, Feb 13: The Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli accused leaders of a rival faction within Nepal Communist Party (NCP) of trying to oust him from power for their personal gains.
Addressing a mass gathering organized by his faction of the NCP in Butwal on Saturday afternoon, Prime Minister Oli said that leaders of the Dahal-Nepal led faction of the NCP are trying to oust him from power for their vested interests. “They sought my resignation from the post of Prime Minister and the party’s Chairman. I asked the reasons behind this. The answer was simple. They said we also want to be a PM and chairman of the party,” said Oli, while adding that they did not want to build the nation.
Prime Minister Oli maintained that the intra-party row began within NCP after the Oli-led government unveiled revised political map of Nepal that included the territories of Lipulekh, Limpiyadhura and Kalapani. These territories are currently being held by India.
Prime Minister Oli also said that the country was on the path of bringing development and that the government had achieved progress in almost every sector. He also said that the government is making its presence felt in international forums in the past three-year tenure of his government.
Oli also announced a press conference on coming Monday to review the achievements made by the government in the past three years.
