KATHMANDU, July 18: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, who is adamant on not resigning but facing the no-confidence motion, has invited Chiefs of the major two political parties that had filed the motion against him, for a meeting on Monday evening.

Press Advisor to the Prime Minister, Chetan Adhikari told Republica Online that PM Oli will meet President of Nepali Congress (NC) Sher Bahadur Deuba and Chairman of CPN (Maoist Center) Pushpa Kamal Dahal at his residence, Baluwatar at 5 pm today.

“They were called to discuss the latest political development and constitutional hurdles for the formation of a new government,” he said.

It will be the first instance the Prime Minister will meet the leaders after the no-trust motion was registered at the parliament.

The Prime Minister had consulted legal experts on the constitutional provisions on the formation of a new government yesterday. During the meeting, they had told the PM that no new government could be formed as per Article 298 of the constitution, but suggested that the way to forming a new government could be cleared through a constitution amendment, or a parliamentary resolution, or through invocation of the provision removing constitutional hurdles.
