PM Deuba offers tribute to Mahatma Gandhi

NEW DELHI, April 2: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, who is currently in New Delhi in an official visit to India, visited Rajghat and laid a wreath on the memorial of Mahatma Gandhi today morning. Rajghat lies on the west bank of the Yamuna River and it is the place where Mahatma Gandhi was cremated.

Paying homage to the 'Father of India', PM Deuba observed one minute of silence in honor and remembrance of Gandhi. Prime Minister Deuba also signed in the visitors' book at Rajghat, noting that the propagator of the non-violent movement- Gandhi- and his contribution to the 'Quit India' movement was memorable.

PM Deuba was accompanied by his spouse Dr Arzu Rana Deuba, Foreign Minister Dr Narayan Khadka, Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Minister Pampha Bhusal, Health and Population Minister Birodh Khatiwada, Agriculture and Livestock Development Minister Mahendra Ray Yadav, Chief Secretary Shanker Das Bairagi, Prime Minister’s chief personal secretary Bhanu Bahadur Deuba and Foreign Secretary Bharat Raj Paudyal among others.

The Nepali delegation also laid a wreath on the memorial of Gandhi in a gesture of tribute. PM Deuba arrived New Delhi on April 1 leading a 50-member delegation in a three-day official visit to India at the invitation of his Indian counterpart Narendra Damodardas Modi.
