KATHMANDU, June 19: Pavitra Niraula Kharel, Chairperson of the International Relations Committee of the House of Representatives (HoR), has said that she felt insulted by Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba as he decided to skip the meeting of the parliamentary committee.
Earlier, the parliamentary committee had called Prime Minister Deuba to get information regarding his upcoming visit to the United States of America (USA) and to discuss the State Partnership Program (SPP) agreement reached with the US government.
Kharel said her committee was informed that the prime minister would not be able to attend the meeting only at 8 AM–two hours before the scheduled meeting. She added that she felt insulted by the prime minister. "I think it's an insult to the whole parliamentary committee," she said.
Meanwhile, Nepali Congress (NC) lawmakers have defended the absence of the Prime Minister stating that it was not an issue of insult.
