PM Dahal to inaugurate fast-track project tomorrow

BARA, May 27: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal is all set to inaugurate the much-talked fast-tract project that connects Tarai and Kathmandu on Sunday.

Dahal-led government had awarded the project to the Nepal Army few weeks ago.

According to the NA officials, the inauguaration program will take place in Nijgadh tomorrow.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Krishna Bahadur Mahara, Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Ramesh Lekhak, Defense Minister Balkrishna Khand, Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) Rajendra Chhetri including the prime minister will attend the event, District Administration Office, Bara told Republica Online.

The NA had completed a 76-km-long track under the Kathmandu-Nijgadh connecting fast-track project begins from Khokna, Lalitpur to Nijgadh, Bara last year.

Even though the fast-track was originally planned to have 22 meters in width, it has only 7 to 12 meters wide.

Ministery of Physical Infrastructure and Transport has said that the government has already disbursed Rs 1.64 billion for the construction of the fast-tract project.

The government said it has spent Rs 820 million on track opening and the rest on the compensation of the land acquired during the construction.
