PM Dahal recommends Dinmani Pokharel as new attorney general

KATHMANDU, Dec 27: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has recommended Dr Dinmani Pokharel for the post of Attorney General.

KATHMANDU, Dec 27: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has recommended Dr Dinmani Pokharel for the post of Attorney General.


There is a constitutional provision that the Attorney General is appointed by the President on the recommendation of the Prime Minister. The Attorney General is the government’s chief legal advisor. Pokharel is scheduled to take oath by the President at Shital Niwas later today.

Pokharel is an expert in constitutional law. He had even argued in the Supreme Court that the dissolution of the House of Representatives during the time of the then Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli was unconstitutional.


Pokharel previously worked as a legal expert for the then Speaker Onsari Gharti.
