KATHMANDU, Aug 29: Chairman of Sadbhawana Party, Rajendra Mahato on Sunday evening held a meeting with Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal at the latter’s residence in Baluwatar.
The meeting comes at a time when it is talked that the difference between the government and United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) was escalating.
Mahato said that the discussion, that lasted for some two hours, focused on constitution amendment.
“It is my second stint as a Prime Minister following an assistance and goodwill from UMDF,” Dahal told Mahato, “The main objective of the government is to solve the problems inside the country and make the constitution widely-acceptable. Please, don’t cast doubt”
According to him, the Prime Minister assured him of registering the constitution amendment proposal at the Legislature-Parliament after Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba returns from Singapore.
“I found PM Dahal very positive toward our demands,” Mahato told Republica Online, “He assured me of filing the proposal soon.”
Mahato said that he told the Prime Minister to forge the government’s view on constitution amendment after discussing the issue with UDMF.
“We are hopeful that all parties will agree on the amendment that is in favor of the country and general people,” said Mahato.
PM Dahal has been saying that the government will file the amendment proposal before he leaves for India.
