KATHMANDU, May 6: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal and main opposition CPN (UML) Chair KP Sharma Oli held a meeting on Saturday to discuss the country's latest political developments.
During the meeting held at the Prime Minister's official residence, Baluwatar, the two exchanged views on the situation in the aftermath of the Supreme Court's interim order that came Friday in regard to the impeachment motion brought against SC Chief Justice Sushila Karki.
The meeting dwelt on the matters in dealing with the situation on the basis of an all-side understanding, according to Prime Minister's Press Advisor Govinda Acharya.
The Prime minister had told the main opposition leader that he would take an 'appropriate' step at this moment on the basis of the understanding among all.
Talking to media after the meeting, CPN (UML) General Secretary Ishwor Pokhrel said party chair Oli urged the Prime Minister to withdraw the impeachment motion on the occasion.
It is noted that CJ Karki was automatically suspended from her office with the registration of the impeachment motion against her by 249 lawmakers from the Nepali Congress and CPN (Maoist Center) on April 30.
Likewise, a single bench of SC Justice Cholenra Shamser Rana, in response to a writ petition filed against the impeachment motion, issued interim order reinstating Karki as the CJ on Friday. RSS
