KATHMANDU, Jan 5: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has directed the authorities concerned to reduce the price of petroleum products immediately.
The prime minister has said that the price of petroleum products should be reduced due to the decrease in their prices in the international market, according to the Prime Minister's Secretariat.
IOC sends increased price list of petroleum products
In the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers today, Prime Minister Dahal instructed the Commerce and Supplies Secretary to reduce the price of petrol, diesel and aviation fuel so that the common people feel relief.
However, the Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC), the state-owned oil monopoly in the country, is not ready to reduce the prices saying that it has an obligation to pay an amount equal to 18 billion rupees. Even though the NOC has been under pressure to reduce the prices, it has been refusing to do so. The prime minister had to give instructions after the corporation was not ready to reduce the price, saying that the liability remained, despite the continuous decline in the price of petroleum products in the international market.
