KATHMANDU, April 26: The Photo Journalists Club (PJ Club) on Saturday introduced a COVID-19 insurance scheme worth Rs 50,000 for all photojournalists and their spouses.

On the occasion of the 93rd  National Photo Journalism Day, the PJ Club, in association with Shikhar Insurance, has launched the insurance plan in an attempt to boost the morale of photojournalists who work on the frontline in disseminating information amid coronavirus fears. “We are sure this plan will help ensure security of journalists and boost their confidence,” spokesperson for the club, Dipesh Shrestha, said.

Considering the fact that photojournalists are at a high risk of contracting the coronavirus, the organization had also distributed surgical masks and sanitizers to them.

The club also urges all the media houses to make necessary arrangements to ensure the safety and security of photojournalists at the earliest.
